Match symbology to the ecosystem
Retail POS → EAN-13 or UPC-A. Internal warehouse SKUs → Code 128. Outer cartons → ITF-14. Tiny electronics → Data Matrix. Consumer URLs → QR Code. High-speed lines → DotCode.
Confirm scanner and partner requirements
Legacy partners may still require Code 39. GS1 trading partners care about allocated GTINs more than the generator brand. Pick the format your scanners and contracts already support, then standardize templates.
